“The Inevitable Farewell”

A reflection from Co-Head of Year 12, Mrs Fewster

At Trinity, we spend years helping young people become confident enough to leave us: preparing them to go is part of our purpose. When they are ready to step beyond the gates, we have done our job.

Our farewell to them unfolds in stages. The formalities of the Valedictory Evening gives us time to celebrate together, and when gathering at St Paul’s Cathedral for the Final Year 12 Assembly, every graduate is invited to speak and thank those who have shaped their journey.

Each student reminds us that, within this year group, there are different histories, relationships and reasons to be grateful.

Friendships will continue and visits will follow, but the everyday togetherness has ended. This exact group will never occupy these classrooms, corridors and lunchtimes in quite the same way again.

We are saying goodbye not simply to a school, but to a time in our lives when we were all here together, moving towards the same finish line.

School Captain, Darcy

Class of 2026, thank you for sharing this year with us. With exams now underway, we are so pleased you are ready to go. It is still very hard to let you.
