The extension program at Trinity Grammar School broadens the curriculum through competitions, study opportunities and special projects for students who demonstrate elevated interest and academic ability. 

Extension areas may include academics, music, the arts, sport, community service or leadership development. Offerings change and grow all the time in alignment with student interest. 

Some of the academic extension opportunities available to Trinity students have included:

  • Rotary Four Way Test Public Speaking Competition  
  • Science Talent Search  
  • Science Vision  
  • The Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) competition  
  • The Oxford University Computing Challenge  
  • The Royal Melbourne Show Art, Craft and Cookery Competition  
  • The University of Melbourne Schools Maths Olympics  
  • Victorian Secondary School Orienteering Championships  

Students can also join the many special interest clubs that have been initiated over the years, including art, aviation, books, chess, coding, drama, maths and robotics.

The Trinity Grammar School Henty program offers a suite of special interest subjects for high ability and talented students in Years 9 and 10, with a focus on: 

  • Collaboration and debate  
  • Creativity and innovation  
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving 
  • Depth and complexity 
  • Interdisciplinary studies 

These classes go beyond the regular curriculum and offer enriching and challenging experiences. Students engage in weekly classes run over six weeks each term, sometimes including opportunities offsite and outside of school hours.  

Students can be recommended for this program by their teachers.
