This morning, the Class of 2025 received its VCE results, and what an impressive set of results it is!

We are proud of the efforts of this cohort, grateful for the contributions of their teachers and support staff over many years, and thankful for the trust of families. Our boys can be satisfied that they are well set to tackle the next adventures. As a community, we celebrate not only their scores but also the many different journeys that have led our young people here. They have proven to be strong academically, but more importantly they have proven to be good citizens who value their contributions to the broader community.

In an extraordinary result, our three Duces – Leo Min , Chris Qiu and Eason Yang – received the highest possible ATAR of 99.95.

A summary of the results is as follows:

  • In an outstanding achievement, our 3 Duces received the highest possible ATAR of 99.95.
  • Overall, the cohort attained a median ATAR of 89.8, a median study score of 35 and 11 students achieved a perfect study score of 50 in an individual subject.
  • 20 students (11%) earned an ATAR of 99 or more, placing them in the top 1% of students in the state.
  • 32% received a score of 95 or more.
  • 49% received an ATAR of 90 or more.
  • 94% of students achieved a study score of 30 or above in at least one subject.

These remarkable achievements reflect both their academic dedication and the broader commitment of our students to being their best selves. Their contributions across classrooms, playing fields, auditoriums and the community remind us that success takes many forms.

In an aspirational learning community like ours, there are those who will feel disappointed by their results. We will continue to guide all our students, regardless of their outcomes, to ensure their pathways are aligned with their strengths, interests and aspirations.

To our staff, parents, carers and wider community, thank you for your unwavering support in helping our students reach their milestones.

To the class of 2025, congratulations! We’re excited to celebrate your achievements with our community and beyond. Wishing you every success as you continue to shape your journey.

Leo Min (ATAR 99.95)

Since joining Trinity in Year 8, Kaige ‘Leo’ Min has established himself as a dynamic, intellectually curious and highly accomplished student whose contributions span academics, leadership and cocurricular life.

His dedication to learning has been consistently evident, culminating in the prestigious Premier’s Award for Latin in 2024 – an exceptional achievement, especially as he was only in Year 11 at the time. Leo was also the recipient of the R M Begg Prize for English in 2025.

Leo’s impact on the creative life of the school has been equally profound. As Captain of Digital Media, he has been instrumental in shaping the voice and vision of Roxeth, Trinity’s student-led magazine.

In his capacity as Editor, Leo has elevated the publication through thoughtful storytelling and a commitment to providing a platform for student expression.

A proud member of Sutton House, Leo has also made significant contributions to sport at Trinity. As Captain of Fencing, he led the team to a gold medal, showing discipline, focus and resilience – attributes that have strengthened the team and inspired younger fencers. His versatility extends onto the tennis court as well, where he has been a dedicated member of the seconds tennis team, consistently displaying sportsmanship and determination.

Throughout his years in the Senior School, Leo has exemplified the qualities of a well-rounded leader, academically strong, creatively driven and committed to contributing positively to the community around him.

A Trinity student since Year 7, Chris Qiu has enriched the school community through his gracious, cheerful demeanour and meaningful contributions.

Alongside these personal qualities, he has exemplified a deeply conscientious approach to his studies, earning him distinctions and merits across all subjects. His outstanding results stand as a testament to his innate ability to rise confidently to the highest academic demands.

In 2024, as a Year 11 student, Chris was awarded a Premier’s Prize for Algorithmics, recognising his leadership in the field. Chris has also demonstrated remarkable skill and commitment in national and international competitions.

He earned a bronze medal at the Australian Invitational Informatics Olympiad and a gold medal in the French-Australian Regional Informatics Olympiad, which culminated in Chris competing in the Asia Pacific Informatics Olympiad in 2024.

Chris also performed with credits in the Computational and Algorithmic Thinking (CAT) and Online Coding Competition and Coding Challenge.

Chris’s achievements reflect his dedication, integrity and commitment to learning, standing as an inspiring example to his peers.

Eason Yang (ATAR of 99.95)

A scholar of extraordinary ability and dedication, Yichen ‘Eason’ Yang has distinguished himself as one of the most accomplished students to have passed through Trinity in recent years. As a Prefect and Captain of Academics, he has been an inspiring leader who embodies intellectual curiosity, humility and a deep commitment to the pursuit of learning. His academic achievements place him among the highest-performing students in the state and the nation.

Eason’s accomplishments in mathematics and science are exceptional. He was awarded the Premier’s Award for Physics in 2024 and is the recipient of both the J. K. Merritt Prize for the Dux of Mathematics and Science and the David Orford Prize for Specialist Mathematics.

In addition, he achieved perfect scores of 50 in both Physics as a Year 11 student and Mathematical Methods as a Year 10 student, demonstrating his remarkable capacity for advanced conceptual understanding across disciplines.

Eason’s achievements on the international stage place him in rare company. As a member of the Australian team at the 2025 International Physics Olympiad, he earned a gold medal, representing his country with distinction against the world’s strongest young physicists. He also represented Australia at the Asian Physics Olympiad, where he secured a silver medal in both 2024 and 2025. Within the Trinity community, Eason has generously shared his expertise as the Student Leader of the Olympiad Maths Club, mentoring aspiring mathematicians and fostering a culture of academic curiosity.

Eason’s talents extend far beyond the sciences. A gifted and dedicated musician, he is the Principal Oboe of the Symphony Orchestra and performed as a featured soloist in the Concerto Concert, displaying finesse, artistry and technical command.

Brilliant, disciplined and generously engaged in all aspects of school life, Eason exemplifies the very highest standards of academic rigour and leadership. His legacy at Trinity will inspire students for generations to come.
