What does it take to find common ground when countries have competing interests and some of the world’s biggest challenges are at stake?

For 24 of our Year 10 students, it was an opportunity to find out as they stepped into the world of international diplomacy at a Model United Nations convention hosted by Ruyton Girls’ School, alongside around 90 students from schools across Melbourne.

Tackling global challenges

Representing their assigned countries, our students took on the roles of UN delegates, debating complex global issues under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and Sustainable Development: Harnessing the Benefits, Safeguarding Human Rights.”

The convention challenged students to consider both the opportunities and risks presented by rapidly developing technologies, exploring questions around sustainability, the growing role of artificial intelligence in society, and the importance of protecting human rights and privacy.

Finding common ground

Beyond developing their understanding of global issues, the experience provided students with a practical lesson in collaboration, negotiation and compromise.

Working alongside students from other schools, our delegates were required to listen to different perspectives, negotiate their positions and work towards solutions that could gain broader support – reflecting the complex nature of international diplomacy.

Throughout the event, our students demonstrated maturity, independence and initiative, engaging confidently with challenging issues and embracing the opportunity to step outside the classroom.

The Model United Nations experience offered a valuable insight into how the United Nations operates. It also gave students the opportunity to develop skills that extend well beyond the convention, from communicating across different perspectives to finding pathways forward on issues that affect us all.

There was plenty of House spirit, energy and camaraderie on display at the Senior School Cross Country, held among the beautiful surrounds of our Bulleen Playing Fields.

More than just a day of running, Cross Country is an important part of Trinity’s House Program, bringing students from across year levels together to represent their House and work towards a shared goal.

From the starting line to the finish, students encouraged one another, embraced the challenge and proudly represented their Houses, creating the sense of connection and belonging that sits at the heart of House life.

Events such as Cross Country provide students with opportunities to contribute to something bigger than themselves. Whether competing for a place, supporting a teammate or simply giving their best, every student plays a part in building House pride.

Congratulations to all students who took part and represented their Houses with such enthusiasm and determination.

A special congratulations to Sutton, who took out first place, followed by Merritt in second and Hindley in third.

It was a fantastic day of competition and community and another great reminder of the spirit that makes Trinity’s House Program such an important part of school life.

The earliest years are an important time for building confidence, curiosity and a love of learning. They also provide the foundation for future success at school and beyond.

We are delighted to announce Trinity’s Early Learning Centre (ELC) has been awarded the highest possible rating of Exceeding the National Quality Standard (NQS) across all seven quality areas, recognising the quality of education and care provided to our youngest learners.

The National Quality Standard sets the national benchmark for early childhood education and care across Australia. An Exceeding rating is reserved for services where the highest-quality practice is embedded throughout the learning environment. It reflects a culture of continuous improvement, thoughtful reflection and genuine collaboration with families and the wider community.

This achievement is a testament to the dedication, expertise and passion of Trinity’s Early Learning educators, who create a nurturing environment where every child is known, supported and inspired to thrive.

Director of the Early Learning Centre, Naomi Wright, said the result reflects the collective commitment of the entire ELC community.

“We are incredibly proud to receive this recognition. It celebrates the commitment, care and dedication that make our ELC such a special place to belong. Through strong relationships, thoughtful teaching and meaningful partnerships with families, we create opportunities for children to develop confidence, self-awareness, independence and a genuine love of learning that will support them well beyond their early years.

I would like to thank my colleagues, whose passion, professionalism and unwavering commitment to continuous improvement drive our journey each day. Their hard work, grit and vision inspire us to continually strive to deliver the very best outcomes for children and families.”

Trinity Grammar School is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of five students from the class of 2025 who were recognised at the 2026 Premier’s VCE Awards ceremony held last night.

The Premier’s VCE Awards recognise students across Victoria who have demonstrated exceptional academic achievement in the Victorian Certificate of Education.

The following Trinity students were honoured:

• Thomas Chan – Top All-Round VCE High Achiever Award and Specialist Mathematics
• Samuel Shaw – Latin
• Konstantinos Siamidis – Mathematical Methods
• Daniel Lee – Mathematical Methods
• Declan Black – Psychology

While these prestigious awards recognise outstanding academic achievement, they also reflect a mindset of curiosity, perseverance and growth. They celebrate students who have embraced opportunities, pursued their passions and continually challenged themselves to achieve their personal best.

Congratulations to these young men on this well-deserved recognition. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to seeing the many ways they continue to make a positive contribution to their communities in the years ahead.

We are delighted to congratulate former Headmaster Rick Tudor AM, Professor Konrad Pesudovs AM (OTG 1986) and Brigadier David McCammon AM (OTG 1994) on being recognised in the King’s Birthday Honours List. 

The honours acknowledge their outstanding leadership, service and contribution across education, medicine, military service and the broader community. 

Rick Tudor, who served as Trinity’s Headmaster from 1999 to 2013, has been recognised for his significant service to secondary education governance and the not-for-profit sector. Widely respected for his years of dedicated leadership at Trinity, Rick played an important role in shaping the school community and the lives of generations of students. 

Professor Konrad Pesudovs has been acknowledged for his outstanding contributions to ophthalmology and eye health research. An internationally recognised researcher and clinician, he was also identified as the world’s most cited optometrist in 2021, reflecting the global impact of his work in improving eye care and vision outcomes. 

Brigadier David McCammon has been honoured following a distinguished military career spanning nearly three decades, marked by exceptional leadership, operational service and an enduring commitment to the soldiers under his command. 

We are proud to celebrate Rick, Konrad and David on this well-deserved recognition and thank them for the meaningful contributions they continue to make in their respective fields and communities. 

Celebrating First Place Ranking for the AGSV Ground and Pitch Awards 2025-2026!

The Trinity Marles Playing Fields, tended by our incredible Bulleen grounds staff, earned perfect scores in three out of four rounds of the AGSV summer sport season, to be recognised as the leading First XI cricket ground and pitch across the AGSV schools.

Congratulations to Peninsula Grammar on 2nd place and Mentone Grammar on 3rd place.

We have also taken out the individual prize for the Pitch award, along with a three-way tie between Peninsula Grammar, PEGS and Ivanhoe Grammar for the Outfield award, with each school scoring perfect results across all four rounds.

Last week, a group of Trinity’s First Nations students, alongside several non-Indigenous mates, spent three powerful days on East and West Gunditjmara Country in Western Victoria as part of our annual Student Reconciliation Camp.

Three powerful days on Country for a group of our young people increasing their understanding of culture, community and what reconciliation looks like in action.

Travelling to East and West Gunditj Country in Western Victoria for our annual Reconciliation Camp, our Trinity students shared the experience of learning and listening.

From a warm welcome at Framlingham, where students heard stories of trade routes, songlines and Budj Bim, the experience was both grounding and eye-opening.

The visit was especially poignant for our Trinity students who come from this beautiful community just outside Warrnambool. The group also travelled from Framlingham to Moyjil, a significant cultural heritage site at the mouth of the Hopkins River, where middens emerging from lava flow have recently been estimated to be between 80,000 and 120,000 years old, reshaping theories of Aboriginal presence in Australia.

We are delighted to announce our student leadership appointments for 2026! Darcy is joined by four Vice Captains, Ryan Cen, Tate Harrison, Anthony Papaleo and Ahilan Sudheshan. 

Our five student leaders report feeling excited and honoured at being appointed, while also feeling humbled as they step into their captaincy roles for the final term of Year 11 and into Year 12. 

“Being appointed as a student leader feels like a culmination of all of my experiences at Trinity, experiences that have shaped my character and helped me grow as a young Trinity man,” Tate says. 

“Starting at Trinity in 3-year-old ELC, my desire to be a student leader only got stronger throughout my school journey. I have always seen this position as an opportunity to represent my school with pride and influence my peers to do the same,” Tate adds. 

Ahilan agrees, “being appointed as a student leader has given me the opportunity to take on a new level of responsibility around school”. 

“This is something which I strongly value and I am so excited to take on any challenges that the year will bring,” Ahilan says.

Trinity’s newly-launched wellbeing curriculum spans from ELC through to Year 12, providing essential support by equipping students with the knowledge and age-appropriate skills needed to manage a complex range of pressures effectively.

In the Early Learning Centre, our youngest students have a collection of Kimochis – a playful cast of characters designed to help young children recognise, understand and talk about their feelings in a safe and engaging way.
